Coronavirus Community Support Response

You will now have seen the developing situation in relation to the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic. Those aged over 70, together with those aged under 70 with underlying health conditions or pregnant, have been asked to pay particular attention to the advice.

In response to this, a village support network is being established.

Do you need help or support?

If you are self-isolating due to COVID-19, we may be able to help with:

  • Picking up shopping
  • A friendly phone call if you are feeling lonely
  • Posting mail
  • Collecting your prescription
  • Dog walking
  • Urgent supplies

If you require assistance then please email covid19@walkeringham.info or alternatively, call 01427 671556. When contacting us, please state clearly what help is required.

Be Aware: There have been reports of people offering help but they are taking advantage of the vulnerable.  We will always show our ID badges when making deliveries.

Can you help?

In order to support our more vulnerable residents, we need your help to set up a community support network and a pool of volunteers we can call upon if we require your help. If you are able to help or offer your support, please email covid19@walkeringham.info (or call 01427 671556).

When contacting us, please let us know what support you are able to provide and leave a phone number and address where possible to help partner up requests and offers for help as best we can.

Reducing infection risks – Please could we ask people who think they may have contracted the virus, to make sure all used tissues are double bagged before putting in their refuse bins.  Also could we please remind Walkeringham residents, not to flush wet wipes down the toilet as this will cause severe problems with the sewage system.

The community support network is not able to offer advice in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic and is simply for support of residents. For advice on COVID-19 please go to the Government website for advice (see here).

GDPR – The Parish Council would like to assure everyone that their contact details will not be shared with anyone, apart from those involved with providing help.
