Originally from the south coast, I have lived in Walkeringham since 1997. I am married with 2 grown up children. I joined the Parish Council in 2016 as I wanted to help make a difference and give something back to my local community. I have worked for the NHS my entire working career mainly in Bassetlaw as a senior clinician, a clinical tutor and a commissioner for local health services.
After retiring and having a strong health background, I involved myself in several health agendas with a focus on shaping effective and high quality services locally within Bassetlaw and ultimately Walkeringham. I am the chair of the local GPs Patient Participation Group and also an elected Bassetlaw Public Governor for Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals.
I am currently the Bassetlaw representative on the South Yorkshire, Bassetlaw and North Derbyshire Cancer Alliance Advisory Board and also the lay chair of the Alliance’s Communication and Engagement steering group. I am also a Bassetlaw representative on the South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw Integrated Care System Citizen’s Panel which ensure the local public voice is heard when any health service change or development is planned.
I feel my experience of engaging with the public, professionals and local community are transferable to the PC to benefit the parishioners who elected us to represent them.
