Whilst some properties in Walkeringham have a reasonable broadband service, others certainly do not, definitely room for improvement I’m sure. This undertaking is to attempt to improve matters…
If you wish to register your interest in this endeavour please do so here.
The Parish Council has recently been contacted by the Broadband Engagement Officer from Nottinghamshire County Council (NCC) in this regard. There is funding available both from the NCC and also central government to improve broadband services. This funding is not directly available to residents but is available to companies who provide/facilitate Internet services and are willing to improve the available services. See here for more information relating to the vouchers/funding and the selected provider (Openreach).
The Parish Council have already registered to the scheme with Openreach and thus now need to canvas the parish for interest.
If you are interested in this opportunity we need to collect the following information from you (your address should also be within the parish of Walkeringham):
- Email address
- Full address, including postcode
- Landline Number
- Address Category: Residential/Business*/Charity/School
*To be able to be considered a Business, you must be running a business from that address (rather than just being an employee of a company and working from home).
Note that whilst there is no commitment required from you at this point, there may be need for some commitment at a later stage (you will be informed of this at the time and will be under no obligation to proceed).
In order to register your interest please use the form here. You will receive a confirmation email when you have registered (check your spam/junk folder if you do not receive it). If you have any problems or queries please email firstname.lastname@example.org for help.
The closing date for submissions is midnight on Saturday the 23rd of January 2021.
After this deadline all the addresses will be provided to Openreach when they will complete their analysis and pricing activities. It will not be possible to add any other addresses after this deadline.
On receipt of the submission Openreach will process the information provided and then respond with a proposal. In simple terms they will be looking at the amount of funding they
will be able to get from the sum-total of the vouchers vs the cost to them to upgrade the infrastructure.
Additionally their response may result in some addresses being removed from the plan (for example due to them not qualifying or not being financially viable). Also at this stage there may need to be some commitment from interested parties prior to them proceeding. If this is the case this will be communicated at that time, as appropriate.
It is important to say that there is no absolute guarantee that this exercise will be successful but having said that the Walkeringham Parish Council thinks that this is a worthwhile activity to pursue.
